Just so FReepers understand.... What Cruz was fighting for was closed primaries. He wanted more delegates for states that have closed primaries.

In any event, that's a shortsighted & silly idea as it locks out independents. It also does nothing about people who purposely register in a different party than they vote.

If anything, states that allow independents are a better predictor of national appeal.

I can see some sort of mechanism to prevent an "operation chaos" type situation (e.g. Democratic nomination is already decided), but Cruz's idea just empowers the establishment even more and makes the party tone-deaf to the general electorate.

Romney clearly has no clout.
He went all in to prevent Trump from getting the
nomination from any of the other ‘anointed ones’, and what happened?
Trump walked away with it.

Not just Romney, the entire Republican establishment, most of the so called "conservative" media (Beck, Levin, Kristol, etc.) . The "mighty" Bush family, McCain, Ryan, a majority of the sixteen candidates that were running against him and hundreds of Congressmen and Senators. In the end Trump brushed them all aside like a swarm of gnats on a summer day. That is why I personally think that Trump will crush Hillary without breaking a sweat, he has been massively underestimated all along and he still is being.
