A US-based Turkish cleric accused of plotting a coup to overthrow the Ankara government has claimed President Recep Erdogan staged the rebellion himself to justify a major clampdown on opposition forces.

Fethullah Gulen, who was a former key ally of Erdogan has been blamed by the politician of using his contacts to develop a 'parallel structure' to overthrow the state.

An effective way to ‘flush out’ opposition is to stage a coup.

Kind of a poorly planned coup if you don’t chop off the head first thing.

The total time of the coup seems too short to be a real.

It’s like a modern day Reichstag fire in order to crack down and bring in tyranny.

I hope the Turkish people are strong enough and resist it.

Something does not smell right in this whole situation. I of course am more inclined to believe this guy living in Pennsylvania then Erdoga.

I have two theories

1) Reichstag - Last night’s “coup” was conducted by patsies. Fighter jets made a few low passes over Istanbul, troops blockaded bridges, an unoccupied parliament building was shelled, and a few tanks in the street. Enough to cast the image of a coup, but not much more. It was half-hearted, half-assed, and all for show - set in motion by Erdogan as a test.

2) Legit - Erdogan’s hotel room was bombed, but Erdogan was not in it. Since the assassination attempt failed, half the military either abandoned the plot or held back to see which way the wind blew. Had that assassination been successful then the coup would have been successful.

Gulen may have given $$$ to the Clinton Foundation -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BClen_movement

In 2016, an email revealed during the Hillary Clinton email controversy indicated that Gulen follower Ghakan Ozkok had had direct access to Clinton’s staff member, Huma Abedin, and asked for a 15 minute meeting for Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu (an ally of Gulen who lost to Erdogan in 2014) with President Obama in 2009. The meeting with Obama took place in Istanbul, several days after the email. Gulen followers have reportedly donated between $500,000 and $1 million to the Clinton Foundation.[45]

BUMP! Very interesting thread. Failure to take out the POS Erdogan suggests that he already purged the military and staged the coup. The future does not look bright for the citizens of Turkey, NATO, EU, USA.

Justice Thomas was in Nice, France just hours before the ‘ice cream’ truck murdered all those people...

I’m repeating the part of the ‘truck murdered all those people’ because the media twits didn’t say the ‘driver’ just the ‘truck murdered these people’...

Gulen sounds like a decent guy. Wants the govt to remain secular, believes in a modern society, likes Science.
