Nearly 3,000 soldiers arrested and 2,700 judges fired as Turkey begins punishing those linked to attempted coup. Turkey has begun a purge of soldiers and judiciary officials allegedly connected to an effort to topple the government, one day after a failed military coup attempt.
By Saturday evening, the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had detained 2,839 military personnel, with number of arrests expected to rise, according to Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
Turkey's top judicial body, the HSYK, dismissed 2,745 judges on Saturday, according to Turkey's Anadolu news agency.

The troops who surrendered are crazy. Better to die in battle than slow torture in a Turkish prison after your family has been raped and murdered in front of you.

Soldiers I get, but judges? How were the judges involved in the coup? It seems odd that a list of 2700+ “enemy of the state” judges is already available less than 24 hours later.
Here it would take less time, just see who appointed them.
Heads are going to roll, literally.
But that is not unexpected, for Turkey or almost any country.
This is going to have severe consequences for Erdogan as he will be destabilizing the region even worse. Look for Putin to insert himself in the upcoming situation by igniting a civil war by covert means and then condemning on the national stage Erdogan for being behind ISIS and for crimes against humanity. This will get global condemnation and alienate Turkey from its NATO allies. Then the Russians will likely send a massive force to Turkey to join with the anti-Erdogan forces and wipe Erdogan out. They will then install their own strong man to stabilize the situation.
The constitutional forces gambled. They lost. Another full blown radical theocracy will emerge; one that no longer recognizes any restraint on its power over its people. And another safe haven for terrorists.
