Wouldn’t a couple of bombs on the runway prevent takeoffs and landings?
I don’t have a military background but doesn’t look like much protection for the personel.
Would the bombs be inactivated in circumstances like this or would there be hesitancy until maybe too late.
If Turkey is going rogue this is how it could start. I don’t expect them to say “Next week we are going to start a war.”

We will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of our service members, our civilians, their families and our facilities. The Turkish government has closed its airspace to military aircraft, and as a result air operations at Incirlik Air Base have been halted at this time. U.S. officials are working with the Turks to resume air operations there as soon as possible. In the meantime, U.S. Central Command is adjusting flight operations in the counter-ISIL campaign to minimize any effects on the campaign. U.S. facilities at Incirlik are operating on internal power sources and a loss of commercial power to the base has not affected base operations.”

Man oh man, I’m jittery. Usually stay skeptical of early reports about anything, ask questions, wait. Important to refocus on that pri ciple now.
Obama is Erdogan’s best bud. If this was a false flag coup, he is beating the US for show or for some other nefarious reason. Then again Hillary seems to be controlling more of the US government than Obama.

Incirlik Air Base - Turkey Just for everyone’s knowledge. There are no reports of any explosions on or near the installation. Let’s please not perpetuate this rumor any more.
My guess is the coup attempt originated from Incirlik and these are the dead enders who rather die fighting then being tortured in Islamic prison.

Might be the Loyal turkish AF pilots are using the coup as an excuse to make some noise and have some fun while they are in the air.
