U.S. airline regulators are banning all flights between the U.S. and airports in Turkey as the country fought to overcome a military coup attempt that left at least 161 people dead and scores more wounded Saturday.
The Federal Aviation Administration ban includes commercial and private planes operating into or out of Turkey, as well as flights to the U.S. by non-U.S. carriers via third countries. (SNIP)
Meanwhile, the U.S. embassy in Ankara issued a statement Saturday warning that U.S. government officials have been told not to use the airport in Istanbul and that U.S. citizens in the country should seek shelter. The embassy said it is still hearing reports of sporadic gunfire around the airport.
The Pentagon says U.S. warplanes have stopped flying missions against the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq from a base in southern Turkey after the government closed its airspace to military aircraft.

Now that's just plain damn funny right there. lol
You guyz are cracking me up. Another good post. lol
If those are booked up, there's always peaceful Eritrea, and the actually more peace-filled Djibouti, where it's as hot as Texas (when Texas is hot) just about always.
Peaceful, but a Westerner can still have contents of their pockets liberated by locals, there in Djibouti.
Or a guy could go to Rio and come into contact with the Zika virus while getting mugged. If not be robbed, in the least (near continually) still -- be defrauded by cab drivers. They'll give you "change" for paper currency that is counterfeit. But the real scam is to take your currency, move it quickly to their own lap, change it out with poor quality counterfeit --- then pitch a fit about how the traveling passenger tried to rip them off, forcing the unwary to have to pay again -- and lose whatever "change" they may have had coming to them from the first bill.
Take cell phone photos of currency serial numbers, is one trick. Make a big deal about reading off the serial numbers WHEN THE MONEY IS FIRST HANDED OVER. Have the driver repeat the serial number, too.
Personally, though I don't advise this for others, I'd think about buying a good knife at the airport, if they have them -- and if all of the above doesn't work, and the son-of-a-lying-whore still tries to play games -- while in the back seat, very suddenly grab the driver by the head/hair, yank backwards and put a knife to his neck. Of course, a person would have to be willing to carry through with this, and immediately, seriously hurt the lying scumbag rip-off cab driver if he at all struggled, while also refusing to [cough-cough] re-negotiate.
Teach the bastards a lesson they won't soon forget (cuz they just might be too dead to do anything, including "forgetting"). If that happened more often --- there's be less criminality among Brazilian tourist area cab drivers.
But if you go to Venezuela, don't forget the toilet paper. How to smuggle it past the border inspection people (who would likely seize it on sight --to be sold, or reserved for their own use) I do not know. But have fun (even if ur drawers B crusty!).

You nailed it. This was the most pathetic “coup” I’ve ever seen.
You’re correct; Ceausescu was the Communist dictator of Romania.
During the coup, he & his wife tried to escape Romania but were caught a few days later & were quickly executed by firing squad. The video might be on YouTube, not sure.
Ceausescu & his wife got what they deserved & I hope Erdogan meets the same end.
