I’m not so sure that Scott’s proposed solution isn’t far off the mark: Separate traffic enforcement duties from law enforcement duties. I’ve seen the reputation of law enforcement tarnished by the likes of traffic cops who park at the bottom of a long hill with a radar gun or even bait people into speeding. Revenue collector for the nanny state should not be part of their job description.

“...Separate traffic enforcement duties from law enforcement duties....”

They are one in the same. They are inseparable. A police officer's profession and job is LAW ENFORCEMENT no matter what he is doing.

Like the unmarked car that tailgates you until you speed up to put some safe distance there, then pulls you over?

I think it’s a good idea also. The police can find another way to pay for their pensions. Free them up to find real criminals.

That’s because cops have quotas.

States are broke.

Of course voters get mad at cops rather than politicians who spending them into oblivion.

But voters believe the lies - which is why this guy is complaining of police harassment. Because it works. :)
