I met a guy once who never really landed on Normandy. He was a UDT member. They swam in with swim trunks, fins, mask a .45 and some munitions. Their job was to blow the barriers.
I think they then swam back to the ship. He said he got shot in a Higgins boat and never actually landed. It was an honor just to stand in the shadow of such a hero.

That picture is devastating. I have two little girls and cannot begin to imagine that - it is crushing to think about it. This is the photograph every person needs to see and remember - I pray they vote accordingly because this WILL BE us at some point in the future and decisions today can lead to this tomorrow.
