“Can you run Adobe Photoshop for photo editing or Vegas Pro for Video Editing using Linux in a native environment?”
I use Gimp and Blender. I’m sure they aren’t as polished, but they are steadily improving (as is all the Linux stack). Short term, windows is better, but if you are thinking legacy past 5 years, why would you stick with an expensive fossil? I will save $thousands over that time period.
I am not particularly happy with Windows 10. The version of Photoshop and Vegas Pro that I am using are both several years old, both still do all that I need them to do. Windows 7 64 came free on my laptop and I have no intention of updating it or Photoshop or Vegas. I also use some freeware tools that work well for certain tasks. So I am not sure that switching to Linux would save me any money.
I have a Nextbook Flexx 10 2 in 1 laptop/tablet with a 10” screen that others who own them are working to get Linux up on, so far the drivers for the touch screen, Bluetooth, sound card, etc. are still not working. When these problems are solved I will most likely give Linux a try on it since I purchased it for email, Internet browsing, and creating documents on the road.
It is funny that you refer to Windows as an expensive fossil because whenever I am using either Linux or Android I always feel like I am roughing it. Linux is great but it has never felt as polished as Windows.
