Republican National Committee members huddling in Cleveland on Wednesday sought to tamp down speculation about a convention floor rebellion that is being spearheaded by a group of Never Trump Republicans.
When the GOP Rules Committee convenes on Thursday, Never Trump delegates will look to pass a conscience clause that would unbind them from the results of state primaries and caucuses and free them to vote for whomever they choose.
There is intense speculation about whether Unruh will garner the required number of signatures. Some Republican National Committee (RNC) members said they believe shell get there. Others believe shell fall short.
But even if Unruh achieves a floor vote, most GOP leaders believe the rebellion wont be anything more than a short-lived distraction and that there is little to no chance anyone other than Donald Trump will emerge as the presidential nominee.
I respect [Unruhs] efforts and have had polite conversations with her, but I dont see it, said Steve Duprey, an RNC member from New Hampshire. Its going down by massive numbers. ... I just dont see a majority of Republican delegates willing to overturn what the voters did in their states. Thats not how we roll.

Dane Waters was a daddy Bush flack. Bushies still sour-graping up the new GOP: if they can’t have it no one can. Well, except Hillary of course, she’s quite acceptable to the Bushies.

What are their names.
That fact that Ted hasn't said a peep in the months this has been going on, tells you all you need to know about the true character of the man.
Cruznadiens being Cruznadiens ...
These people just want to damage Trump, as Romney and Rockafeller damaged Goldwater.
Now we have "Son of Romney".
Despicable scumbags all.
Yes, and AlGore used to be the next president of the United States.
Unruh (the Church Lady) is a sworn Cruz delegate and long time holy roller activist.
For them now it's all about "principle" as they just can't bring themselves to vote for the scoundrel Trump.
She's of the "Principled Conservative" faction of the GOP, you know, the hypocritical one.
Their position is, and always has been, no compromise unless it's one of their own, then "How dare you question.x..?" .
All the while enabling and empowering those who are selling the wealth of the nation for $.10 on the dollar.
They mean well, they're just stupid and hypocritical.
Unless I’ve totally missed something, many of the delegates are bound to vote for the primary winner in accordance with their States’ laws. If they don’t do so, they are subject to monetary fines and potential jail time.
Why do some idiots think the rules committee can overturn States’ laws?
The candidates did not pledge to “endorse” the primary winner; just to support the winner.
Correct, it is lying Ted Cruz, the Despicable one, that is man behind the curtain.
I’m tired of all the religious cults running loose in this country.
Because the states' laws you're referring to probably aren't state laws.
Because the process is instead governed by state party rules -- quite another thing entirely -- and theoretically reversible by national party rules...
Christian? Bullsh*t. 'By their fruits'. and all that. If Cruz gets away with overthrowing Trump, this country DESERVES Hillary.
...and Romney? Damn him to hell.
Hillary and Bill have more integrity than this Unruh woman and Ted Cruz. Both are pieces of excrement...no wonder people loathe Christians.
All I can say is that once Trump is the nominee, EVERYONE who signed that pledge better endorse him.
Or they should be thrown out of the GOP.
No excuses and no exceptions.
If it were up to me, MS. Unruh; you wouldn’t even be voting for anything in the first place. This country has been plunging to the left ever since women were given the vote.
Teufelsdrock you magnificent bastard -- We read your book!
