BORIS Johnson has landed the plum job of Foreign Secretary in new Prime Minister Theresa Mays Cabinet.
The chief Brexiteer arrived at Downing Street to be awarded the role as one of Mrs Mays first acts in Downing Street.
Philip Hammond, a chief ally of the new PM, has been appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer after George Osborne resigned, and Amber Rudd has just been told she will be the new Home Secretary, with Michael Fallon staying on as Defence Secretary.
And David Davis takes on a new role as Brexit Minister, and will be in charge of Britains negotiations to leave the EU.
Liam Fox, who challenged for the leadership was handed the role of International Trade Secretary.

Upon what are you basing this assessment?
David Davis is very conservative although he’d probably call himself a libertarian first and foremost.
Mostly ignorant of the nuances of UK politics so a question: Why would Boris Johnson walk away from the PM job just to take a “plum position” as foreign minister?
From what I understand Boris is a big proponent of almost open immigration, is of Turkish decent, and seems a bit....off.
Not that this would lead to that conclusion, but I hope the PM knows what she is doing. Thanks to Labour, the Lib Dims, and the SNP being complete jokes, the Tories have lots of room for error.
I think Johnson would have preferred to be Prime Minister, but realised that for various internal party reasons that was unlikely to happen - that’s why he withdrew. Being appointed Foreign Minister is a brilliant result for him as a ‘second prize’ but he would have liked the top job.
Anybody know much about Boris? Is this likely to be good for reestablishing their status as independent of the EU?
To keep him out of the country as much as possible? LOL.
Politics1.com tweets that Johnson wrote of Hillary in 2007 (when he was supporting Obama) that she looks like a “sadistic nurse in a mental hospital”. Ha!
Liam Fox getting a cabinet post is welcome news.
David Davis as Brexit Secretary seems like a good choice.
Cameron’s Chancellor George Osborn being on the outs is a surprise.
She may just succeed after all
Immigration is under the control of the Home Secretary so whatever Johnson’s views on that truly are is of limited importance. And I think it’s overstating his position that he supports open immigration - he supports controlled immigration at a reasonably high level - basically he’d like to see Britain bring in a lot of highly qualified people who will fit in, not open borders for all.
Boris may not be the most diplomatic Foreign Secretary - I can see him being... entertaining in the role - but his ideas are in the right place for the most part.
Boris Johnson is also the winner of an President Erdogan offensive poetry contest run by the Spectator UK. This was his entry:
There was a young fellow from Ankara
Who was a terrific wankerer
Till he sowed his wild oats
With the help of a goat
But he didnt even stop to thankera.
Can’t wait for the first Erdogan/Johnson meeting.
that’s just dumb
Good for Boris Johnson!!!!
He later called obama a Kenyan, after obama’s disgraceful attempt to intervene in the British Brexit decision!
Hillary IS Nurse Ratched!!!!
Theresa May forced to defend views on Sharia Law as she prepares to enter No 10
May sparked controversy when she spoke out in support of the Islamic courts operating in the country, telling the nation they could benefit a great deal from Sharia teachings.

At least he has a Masters degree in Business, which is an improvement over most politicians...
PS As a scouser, there is nothing wrong with a Liverpool accent...:^)
“From what I understand Boris is a big proponent of almost open immigration, is of Turkish decent, and seems a bit....off.”
Actually, he is of a very mixed descent. Born in the U.S., a dual British/U.S. citizen - a mix of Christian, Russian Jew, and on his father’s side from Ali Kemal (who was Turkish-Muslim and very pro-British Empire).
With the above ancestry alone one presumes the job of Foreign Secretary should suit him well in the foreseeable future at least.
