Nothing shuts ppl from the left up, but I agree that having a Governor’s experience is a plus.

yup, Chief of Staff necessarily plays a much bigger role day to day, week by week, in any admin. Gingrich would be great there, or else as a WH “senior advisor” in close involvement daily.

With Pence, I see the hands of Koch in the background, Trump wants their money in this race, they’re gamblers.

Trump will be president. VP only gets heard if he is asked to be heard by the president, or if the Senate has a a tie.

George the Elder did not influence Reagan as much as guys like Ed Meese and Michael Deaver.

Wouldn’t it be odd if Pence were selected and lost IN for Trump the way Governor Agnew did his own MD for Nixon in 1968?

It would be very odd, and highly unlikely. Pence does fine in Indiana, and Indiana's overall temperament is more conservative than Maryland (then or now). Even though Indiana is not a huge state, that state along with Kentucky closes the polls first in the U.S., and when Trump wins IN going away, it may have a positive influence on the folks still voting in NV, NM, OR, WA, CA and CO.

The timing of the event may indicate Pence since he has until noon on Friday to have his name removed from the ballot for the governors race.

My wild guess is that Trump will select Pence to be his VP, Newt to be his Secretary of State, and Christie to be his Attorney General.

Trump said that Newt will have a place in his admin....so picking Pence for VP would be the best move—Newt has too much baggage at this point

Consider; in my judgement, Rudy Giuliani would be a far superior choice for AG than a Jersey politician and incompetent Governor, whose rating are lower than Bush’s ever were.

Donald Trump, Please pick Mike Pence.

He’s 57, and born in Ohio, and he will bolster your numbers in the rust belt states: IN, MI, OH, PA, plus even in IA where he is admired.
In eight years, he could run as your replacement.

Give Newt an important job and have BOTH of them pulling every day for you!

That's a good point.   (We'll have to wait until Trump is elected to see who he will actually select for those other cabinet posts.)

Pense's background as an adventurer could be appealing to some voters.

Agree, of those 3 for me it’s Newt, Newt, Newt.

Although Giuliani has his shortcomings and Christie is (imo) a very skillful politician, I have to agree with you.

By the way, I do wonder why no one thinks Giuliani will be the pick. I wouldn't be happy about that, but it seems odd he's not taken seriously as a possibility.
