Yes, you are very right about the politics. The true SCOTUS would be totally apolitical and ONLY concerned about the written law and the neutral handling of the cases that come before it. The bias that exists there makes the SCOTUS almost useless and very dangerous to the values and position of America.
Something does need to be done.
