I thought her endorsement speech was disheveled. Although I recall there were some family problems going on at the time. But still...and I have supported and admired her..it wasn't great.

I disagree. Trump is outside the establishment. He needs to pick someone who is a genuine conservative (constitutional, social, foreign policy, and fiscal) and who has experience and know-how. Trump will set the policy.
