Republican delegates unanimously adopted an amendment to their draft platform Monday morning that called pornography “a public health crisis” and a “public menace” that is destroying lives.

The language went further in its condemnation of porn than the 2012 GOP platform, which condemned child pornography and encouraged the enforcement of obscenity and pornography laws.

They’re right, of course. Porn is a disgusting and destructive force nowadays, with the internet and cable tv bringing every perversion imaginable right into our homes. No wonder there’s been such a nosedive in morality.

Liberty must be tempered by moral self discipline. In order for a nation to be blessed by God, that nation must be obedient to God, and that’s why our laws were indistinguishable from God’s commands for much of our history. That wasn’t some sort of accident or coincidence. And blessed we were, becoming the richest and most prosperous nation on earth. Until recently. The further we fell into depravity, the more difficulties we began to have, until now our formerly rich and prosperous nation is now $20 trillion in debt, an amount we can never repay. That’s not some sort of accident or coincidence either. God is not mocked.
