I'll probably draw some incoming fire, but I no longer make much distinction between Republican and Democrat. I've witnessed the evolution of the "Uniparty" over my adult lifetime. Republicans pushed out the conservatives (by and large), and the Democrats pushed out the "Bluedogs." What's left is a common big government, with minor squabbles to keep the two parties alive.

I have been a declared independent for the past four years (giving up on the Republicans after the Romney fiasco). I vote for the best candidate. I actually think a lot like Trump. What bothers him, and what gets his passion going are the very same issues I'm passionate about.

I'm NOT passionate about the Republican party. Frankly, I'm mostly disappointed and frustrated by the Republican party. Twice they have been given clear mandates, most recently in 2014, and they have fumbled beyond belief. They have actually given Obama EVERYTHING he's pushed in the past seven and a half years. So what's to get excited about?

So, whoever Trump selects (there will be crisiticism galore no matter who he chooses), is okay with me, so long as it is a person who supports the same goals and ideals, and will be willing to take direction from Trump. What leter is after his or her name is of no consequence to me.

My closing argument is: Zell Miller (Google his name if you've forgotten).

Miller was the last of a dying breed.

Sure the GOPe are essentially careerist closet Dems, but non-closet Dems are even worse.

Zell Miller was not a conservative, except on National Security issues. That isn't good enough.
