(CNSNews.com) - The civilian labor force expanded in June, adding 414,000 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

The number of employed people increased by 67,000 to 151,097,000 in June, but the number of unemployed people increased even more, by 347,000 to 7,783,000.

The unemployment rate ticked up two-tenths of a point to 4.9 percent.

BLS said 94,517,000 Americans were not in the labor force in June, a slight improvement from May's record 94,708,000; and after dropping for three straight months, the labor force participation rate increased a tenth of a point to 62.7 percent in June.

In September 2015, the labor force participation rate hit 62.4 percent, its lowest point since 1977. So the June participation rate was only three-tenths of a point off its record low.

Wow... so much violence here between blacks and cops, Muslims and others, and a gun problem. Definitely a gun problem.

Can't concentrate on our Obama economy. Nope... nothing to see here.

Layoffs are a very difficult subject to keep updated even for FOXNews. Apparently, I am presently watching "The Real Story" with Gretchen Carlson. LOL!!!!!

In other words:

Our ridiculously manipulated unemployment number has become unbelievable ever for our fellow kool-aid drinkers. Better add some unemployed workers back into the workforce to raise it a notch.

These people are evil.

[ BLS: Employed Up 67,000 in June; Unemployed Up 347,000 ]

In other words, for every ONE person who got a job FIVE+ (5.179 approx) people LOST a job.

This may be the most accurate reporting they’ve done in 7.5 years. Or closer to accurate than anything else they’ve claimed.

97 million out of the work force of a 300+ million population and the government reports a 5% unemployment rate. That stinks so bad you can smell it even through an internet connection. Even the drop outs at Rio Linda know that is completely bogus.

Not necessarily. The number of "unemployed" can increase because people who weren't looking for a job (students, discouraged people, etc.) now say they are - thereby entering the workforce.

That appears to be the case this month. Being unemployed doesn't mean you lost your job, just that you are now looking for one.

Hmmmm. Well, of course they don’t mention those who have basically given up on looking for a job.

I regularly see job postings where it’s not uncommon for 75-100+ people to apply for one position (some of them actually track the submissions).

Wall Street sure liked those jobs numbers:
Dow +251
NASDAQ +80
And the S&P was just short of an all time record high (2134.72) at +32, finishing the day at 2129.90.

Don’t believe a word of this article...our economy sucks big time...just look around...people are moving in with family trying to share expenses, people working 2-3 jobs a day, people riding bikes instead of cars...

Yeah, old Barky has really done a number on this Country and ‘herself’ will continue on if you elect her...

Hear all this talk about the workforce participation rate? That's where those people show up (reducing the rate).

When they get back in the game, the participation rate and the unemployment rate both increase - just like this month.

The mainstream media conveniently leave that out but the actual Bureau of Labor Statistics report says:
“The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) decreased by 587,000 to 5.8 million in June, offsetting an increase in May. These individuals, who would have preferred full-time employment, were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job. (See table A-8.)
In June, 1.8 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force, about unchanged from a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) These individuals were not in the labor force, wanted and were available for work, and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. (See table A-16.)
Among the marginally attached, there were 502,000 discouraged workers in June, down by 151,000 from a year earlier. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them. The remaining 1.3 million persons marginally attached to the labor force in June had not searched for work for reasons such as school attendance or family responsibilities. (See table A-16.)”

You are correct. This whole thing is a shell game. The facade won’t last forever.
