Oh my...my oh my oh my. Neither of these you mentioned are conservative, moderate middle of the road establishment republican good ol boyz....yes.
True conservatives? Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, Clarence Thomas, the late Anthony Scalia...now those are true dye in the wool constitutional conservatives.
However, these guys are constantly labeled as conservatives - though not by me. As for Ted Cruz - I used to think he was a conservative but then he turned weird. I agree Jeff Session and Anthony Scalia are conservatives. For me one of several criteria for labeling somebody conservative is patriotism and another one is opposition to globalism. No patriotic American would ever promote open borders, gush over illegal aliens, and welcome Syrian “refugees.”
