Sen. Ted Cruz, Donald Trump's former chief rival for the GOP nomination, will speak at the Republican National Convention later this month, the Texas senator told reporters after the two met Thursday in Washington.

Cruz told reporters Thursday that the real estate mogul offered his former primary rival a speaking slot during the meeting and Cruz accepted. He added that he and Trump did not discuss an endorsement.

Amazing how ignorant (or other?) you are.

I studiously pored over the research threads including the ones about NBC topic years ago on FR.

You are full of crap. Born on US sovereignty soil, to two US citizen parents. The parents can be naturalized. But have to be citizens.

You should either stop lying, or inform yourself.

You are driving former Cruz supporters away from Jim Robinsons baby and perhaps away from supporting Trump.

Cruzers need to get over themselves once and for all. Free Republic is about making sure Hillary Clinton NEVER becomes President. Sorry if you didn't get the memo.

Seems like some can't get over the fact that Trump didn't kiss Cruz's a$$, and didn't pander to get his support. Offered him a job and the choice whether he wanted it or not. Cruz couldn't say yes fast enough. Also worth noting that Trump did NOT ask for an endoresement from Cruz. Actually Trump played him like a fiddle, just like the primaries.

‘The strick definition requires both parents to be born as US citizens.’

This is a stupid, idiotic, brain dead lie. The strictest definition is, two citizen parents on US soul. Stop repeating a moronic lie.

Btw, I know where you’re getting the lying propaganda that only two NBC of the US can produce a NBC of the US. You got it from Cruz in one of the debates.

What you apparently don’t know is that Cruz was lying through his teeth. That definition has never been embraced by anyone with an IQ over 60. Why? Because it would mean that from the beginning of the country until now, no one has ever qualified as a NBC of the US, and no one ever will. Sixty seconds’ worth of thinking about it tells you it is an impossible standard for anyone to meet.

Cruz is either stupid beyond words, or he was lying like a rug in that debate. In either case, this “strictest definition” is a wholesale lie. Once you grasp that simple fact, you have a window into Cruz’ character and MO. And what it reveals isn’t pretty.

In other words, you're accusing IP of not getting the joke, either.

This is hilarious.

Good for Ted.

I’m still not happy with some of his behavior, but as I said on other threads, I’m willing to give him a chance to impress me again.

People are upset with Cruz’s recent behavior. And honestly, considering some of his behavior in the primary, rightly so.

But the primary is over, and sometimes the pressure and bad advice can lead a man to do things that he would not otherwise do.

It’ll die down soon enough, especially if Cruz sticks to his conservative guns. But if he tries to sabotage the Presidential election then he’ll deserve everything he gets.

Yes, even though by that time, most knew he was still an Amnesty Globalist Canadian....

The only U.S. President to ever actually sign an illegal alien amnesty bill into law was Ronald Reagan, and he selected as his vice presidential nominee a globalist who had run against him in the primaries and who had called Reagan’s economic policies “voodoo economics,” George H.W. Bush.
Ronald Reagan turned out to be a great president.

From what other posters have made me aware, RR strongly objected to having Bush as VP. It set up the subsequent Bush terms, which, IMO, set up the subsequent O terms, where Americans lost more and more liberties.

I am hoping and praying for a nationalist patriot VP candidate who holds just as dear to his heart as DJT, the desire to boot the Elites from their middle-class robbing, elite-enriching seats of power.

We don’t have too much longer to find out who it will be. Until then, I will continue my daily and nightly prayers!

Ronald Reagan became ok with George H..W. Bush as his vice president once he was assured that Bush would support the Republican platform 100%.
It was Richard Allen, Reagan’s National Security Advisor who suggested Bush.
If you have any interest in reading Allen’s account, here’s a link:
“George Herbert Walker Bush: The Accidental Vice President”
http://www.nytimes.com/2000/07/30/magazine/george-herbert-walker-bush-the-accidental-vice-president.html?pagewanted=all
Here’s the key excerpt: “Reagan glanced around and asked those assembled — a group that included Casey, Meese, Wirthlin, Hannaford, Deaver and me — Well, what do we do now?’’ There was no immediate response. No one offered an alternate plan. No one tossed out a name. Expecting instant opposition, I ventured, ‘’We call Bush.’’ Once more, silence. Reagan again looked at each of us; hearing no objection, he said, ‘’Well, let’s get Bush on the phone.’’

At precisely 11:38, the phone was in Reagan’s hand; though they barely knew each other, Reagan dove right in. ‘’George,’’ he said warmly, ‘’I would like to go over there and tell them that I am recommending you for vice president. Could I ask you one thing — do I have your permission to make an announcement that you support the platform across the board?’’ We could hear Bush agreeing at the other end. Reagan then left for the convention center where, shortly after midnight, he took the podium to praise Ford and then to announce his running mate, George Bush.”

My point is that often the VP choice is someone who can unite disparate parts of the Party from those who support the Presidential nominee.

The way the Founding Fathers originally envisioned it, Donald Trump would be president and Hillary Clinton would be Vice President! That’s how we ended up with John Adams as Washington’s VP, Thomas Jefferson as John Adams’ VP and Aaron Burr as Jeffereson’s VP.

I’ve pinged nopardons because she is the primary source for the differing account as to how GHWB became RR’s VP. There are so many dis-information campaigns out there, it is often difficult to sort through to arrive at truth.

I understand the historical context you give i.e. Jefferson-Adams. This election cycle has opened so many eyes, to re-evaluate the traditional Dem-Rep parties comprised of Lib-Conservatives into possibly being replaced with Dem Globalists vs. Rep Nationalists.

With that in mind, I see no value, and in fact, see inherent danger in selecting a VP Globalist. Danger that I would compare to the two JFK-LBJ and RR-GHWB eras.

My take is this: if God wants DJT to win, he can and will win without having to watch his back with a globalist VP.

YMMV, Nero G. Thanks for sharing your information with us.

Though I wasn't in that room with Reagan, et al, this is NOT the story that circulated at the time and I DID work on both of Reagan's winning presidential runs, so I knew stuff that the general public didn't.

The article ran in the N.Y. Slimes, and you REALLY want us to believe that it's "true", especially when the man claims that he doesn't remember exactly?

Washington ran unopposed, so HELL NO, that is NOT how John Addams became his VEEP!

There were no OFFICIAL parties, back then, so yes, that IS how Addams got stuck with that sting POS Jefferson and Jefferson with the even worse POS Burr. After that, this system was completely shoveled onto the dust heap of history, since they all realized that it was not only completely unworkable, but STUPID...in the bleeding extreme! And it was the FFs who killed it and set up our TWO PARTY system, which, if people have a problem with, they can go to the graveyards where these brilliant men are buried and take it up with them. ;^)

Having Hillary as Trump's VEEP is sheer insanity, as is Trump having that traitorous, back stabbing POS, SOB Cruz, as his VEEP.

Anyone can still ask President Reagan’s National Security Advisor, Richard Allen, who WROTE the story if the New York Times edited in a way that detracted from the points he was trying to make.
Don’t kill the messenger.
