As conspiracy theorists would have it, the biggest project that director Stanley Kubrick helmed is the Apollo 11 moon landing of 1969.
For decades, fringe groups have held that the U.S government hired Kubrick to shoot the “fake moon landing.” Now, as NASA’s Juno probe is expected to reach Jupiter this week, Kubrick’s daughter, Vivian, took to Twitter stating “this feels like the right time to respond.”
“There are many, very real conspiracies that have happened throughout our history,” Vivian Kubrick wrote. “But, claims that the moon landings were faked and filmed by my father? I just can’t understand it!!?”(snip)
She added, “… the so called ‘truth’ these malicious cranks persist in forwarding – that my father conspired with the US Government to ‘fake the moon landings’ – is manifestly A GROTESQUE LIE.”

Nah, the conspiracy theorists have an answer for that one, too. I work with a guy who maintains they were faked, even why I can point to the science to debunk his theories. He said we stopped having "manned moon landings" because the Soviet's technology was getting good enough to detect that we were faking the landings.
Not only that, but they misplaced the moon-cheese :-(

Remember the scene well, since I saw the movie at least ten times in theaters, when I was a teen living in Japan in '68. Lost a prospective girl friend over it; took her to see the movie, she was thoroughly confused by it, and probably didn't want to hear my hour-long excitedly-presented explanation. Present wife is the same with the movie, but at least she looked past the nerd to see the person beneath.
