Sen. Ted Cruz may be on the list of speakers at the Republican National Convention that Donald Trump said he plans to release on Thursday.
Three sources, including one close to the Trump campaign, tell NBC News that Cruz is in negotiations for a speaking spot at the convention. It would be a notable shift for Trump, who previously said his former opponents who haven't yet endorsed him wouldn't be invited to speak. In response to those comments from Trump, a Cruz spokeswoman said at the time that the Texas senator wasn't expecting to receive any time on the schedule.
If Cruz does indeed speak at the convention, it would be a boon for both the senator and the presumptive GOP nominee, who is still struggling to unite the party behind his candidacy with less than two weeks to go until the convention kicks off in Cleveland. Cruz is widely expected to make another White House run in the future, and his appearance at the convention would further elevate him within the party. It could also help convince his former supporters to back Trump, many of whom remain skeptical of the presumptive nominee and a small cohort of whom are trying to force a contested convention to oust Trump.

Negotiating an endorsement for a prime time slot
It’s bad enough Walker is going to speak.
Cruz will break an ankle running to get in front of a camera.
Slam fire?
What am I? Bill Gates? How the heck do I know what happened! Sear in my computer is worn I guess.
His 6 minutes of fame. Big whoop.
Lol. Tent Revival! Featuring Ted Cruz’s Revival Incorporated! With prophet Glenn Beck as special speaker. Full immersion baptisms in Cheetos and oil!
Rafael won't be eligible in 2020, 2024, 2032, or ever.
Trump is out of his mind if he let’s that little weasel speak without getting g a full public endorsement.
I used to disagree with that. Then I saw that the prince of Jordan would be eligible under the interpretation that would allow Cruz.
And also, I do think his dad was in the JFK assassination/coup.
I don’t give a damn what Cruz does. He’s destroyed his credibility, permanently, by not already honoring his pledge and endorsing Trump. What he’s done has enabled those who want to steal the nomination.
TRUMP will NOT do this without some Cruz concessions. Period.
If this SOB can call off the dogs in the ANTI-Trump Convention Hall, and if Cruz can park his butt hurt just long enough to look out for the new TRUMP REPUBLICAN PARTY, we can possibly start winning a few elections.
If TRUMP just wants to be seen offering a carrot stick and powdering Cruz’ butt hurt without concessions, then it’s a mistake. A BIG one. But, that is not TRUMP’s style, to get no concessions.
Cruz has a tendency to grab the other guy’s horse and ride it for the benefit of Ted Cruz. That is exactly what he did with Jeff Sessions— always name dropping Sessions and his solid work, to claim it was all his too.
Trying to salvage his career. Slimy lying Canadian lawyer.
>This will be the most important speech of his life and it cannot be about Ted except about his obligations as a Senator.
Cruz has had a long history of being politically tone deaf. On the other hand if he’s watching the way the winds are shifting he might get on the nationalism bandwagon. I’d like to see that and have Cruz be an asset rather than a liability.
In a nation where the rule of law is supposed to matter, todays decision is troubling. https://t.co/vvu73JpKTy— Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) July 5, 2016
Geez. That's the best he can do? Get 'im outta here!
And we should trust Cruz why?
This is NOT the time to settle scores. If providing Cruz with a speaking slot is a way to quiet any talk about stupid talk about conscience votes that will (and should) go nowhere, provide a projection of conservative (not merely Republican) unity at the convention, and most important of all get everyone who is persuadable on board against Hillary Rodham Clinton, we will have to put the excesses of the campaign behind.
I know that many believed that Cruz should have endorsed Trump right away due to the signed pledge. Trump himself had at one point talked about being relieved of the obligation if certain parties were unfair. Trump, to his credit, has held out an olive branch. It is better for Cruz to make a splash among his former supporters closer to the convention to not allow the moronic “NeverTrumpers” to regroup. Besides that we still have a party platform to influence, and while I am on board with Trump, a lot of Cruz and Carson supporters don’t trust him to water down the pro-life planks of the platform.
The job is to win the election. We have plenty of enemies, no need to keep them after the primaries. Let the ROmney/John Ellis Bush/Crystal folks be the ONLY never Trumpers.
