Al Gore -- a legend in his own mind.
Fancying himself a trailblazer on the issue of climate change, the former vice president said he shares much in common with another man on a "great social mission" -- baseball icon Jackie Robinson.
Yes, just as Robinson, the first African-American to play professional baseball, became a "messenger" of integration, so is Gore the harbinger of global warming. Speaking to the Nashville Tennessean, Gore said:
"There is a time-honored tradition of people who strongly disagree with a message and take it out on the messenger, and opponents of integration had a personal animus for Jackie Robinson. Opponents of all the great social movements would take out after the advocates that were most effective in asking people to change."
Yes, Gore, there is no difference whatsoever between the Civil Rights movement and the hyped hysteria about permafrost and "climate refugees." Good thing Gore says he doesn't take criticism personally:
"As a result, I don't take it personally when the criticism comes at me. I believe so passionately in this mission, if you will. The word 'mission' might sound a little grandiose, but that's kind of what it feels like to me. Honestly, it is a joy and a privilege to have work that justifies pouring every ounce of energy you can pour into it. That is a blessing that is to be cherished."
During the interview, Gore also shared his theories on Zika, blaming the exotic, mosquito-borne virus on ... you guessed it, climate change:
"We're still putting 110 million tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere every day," Gore told the paper. "And it's adding up. The cumulative amount of heat energy trapped by all the man-made pollution up there is now equal to 400,000 Hiroshima-class (atomic) bombs going off every day."
I for one sleep more soundly knowing that Gore is on the case, breaking the shackles of climate change skepticism -- which we all know is the real threat to our safety and security.
Gore should be condemned for “cultural appropriation.”
Well done!
I'm thinking he's more like Bob Uecker.
Gore invented baseball?
Al Gore, like obama is a constant reminder that even someone who is rejected by thinking society can still unleash horrific damage on the world with financial backing.
Gore can’t wipe Jackie Robertson’s shoes.
“I’m thinking he’s more like Bob Uecker.”
Why do you have to insult Bob Uecker like that? He’s one of the sport’s true baseball voices. Dare I say, a legend? I grew up listening to Vin Skulley (sp?), the voice of the Dodgers, and now hear Bob Uecker for the Brewers. He’s baseball.
Jackie Robinson was a C- student in Divinity College and knew nothing about Science?
Who would have known.
“Look at me! Look at me!” Is there anything more pitiful than washed up politicians who still crave attention. There ought to be a deserted island far, far away where we could ship them and never hear from these rejects again.
ROTFLMAO!
What a dumb@sss!
Gore is full of theatrics and shenanigan schemes to get rich off highly ignorant and extremely gullible psychologically challenged people.
He’s a modern day Quack at best.
They are nearly alike. Robinson worked hard and Gore hardly worked.
Jackie Robinson was a Republican.
Classic democrat delusion.
Gosh I just can’t imagine why he didn’t get elected
There are SOME differences between the two.
Robinson did not have the head of Westboro “Baptist Church” as his state campaign manager.
Well, dang. And all this time I figured a social movement was sharing a two-holer...
Oh Man, I don’t care who you are, that’s funny!!!
Jackie Robinson repreaented a challenge to the eatablisbment’s exclusion of black people in baseball. Those who challenge global warming/climate change’s scientific support and premises are more like Jackie Robinson. Algore is simply carrying a flag for the establishment by championing its drivel.
Sorry Bob Ueker is genuinely funny.
One teeny difference:
Robinson made his mark in sports, and he was an accomplished athlete across the board - in high school he lettered in baseball, football, tennis and track, and of course he was a Hall of Famer in baseball.
Gore thinks he’s a star in climatology, but the doesn’t know $hit about science - he barely passed a non-majors course in general science while a collegian.
In other words, Robinson is a legend because he knew what he was doing. Gore? He’s a moron.
