A Cotton-Ernst ticket would be great in 2020. But they are to new and inexperienced. They need to hold off.

I’m voting Trump while at the same time holding my nose because I don’t want to see Hitlery in there. I had to tie my mind into knots like a pretzel and compromise many conservative principles in order to do so. A poster earlier stated he is conservative enough? That is utterly laughable. I wonder how many others have had to perform epic leaps of mind twisting to convince themselves Trump is conservative? I’m not fooled, I’m voting for him to turn Washington upside down and that is it.

Very well put. My feelings, exactly.

TRUMP plays rope a dope for the press.

Ernst and Cotton are mush when it comes to throwing off the shackles of RINO leadership and the globalist strings that are tightly binding all Republican workings on the Hill.

Neither have the independent courage to buck the RINO bridle off and saddle up with TRUMP with any sure loyalty.

Padding their resume with Cruz first, tells me a lot. They both tested the direction of the political winds and thought they prevailed with Shakespeare. Turns out they were wrong.

If loyalty matters, it will be first, Sessions, and second, Christie, for VP. That’s just the way things have shaken out on the loyalty trail.

TRUMP is going to need loyalty desperately given the forces aligned against him.

I’ll get behind whoever Trump picks but he needs Newt or Sessions. They know how to get the sausage made.

Why don’t you both just vote for Hillary even if she is in jail. What the hell.

Newt can do that as Chief of Staff. No need to be VP for that one. He'll also need trusted lieutenants in the Senate itself, and Sessions one of the few whom we can trust and who are truly allied with Trump.

NO PERSON from the Senate should be picked. Why? Because we need to retain the senate to be able to ditch Mitch from the majority leadership...if the senate is retained by the “republicans” in office.

The house is another matter.

Hmmm. Well, then, I’m back to my first choice. Sessions.

Is Sessions an emotional firebrand for you. Is he going to light the scoreboard up with passion? Will he take down dumbass reporters?

What was Hillary doing at the time?

Lying, stealing, cheating, things like that.

Me too, GG2. (See post 63)

I was a Newt supporter back when.. I love Newt.

However, Newt can be obnoxious and unhelpful to TRUMP, already having openly criticized him, with no small measure of classic Gingrich condescension.

I believe it may have been over that flap concerning the La Raza endorsed judge, in the Trump U. case, I’m not certain which media “scandal” exactly, but Newt’s two cents struck me as way too scathing to hope to make the TRUMP ticket.

My point is that Newt has plenty of peacock in him, if he decides to flare his feathers over some damn thing or another, and seems not to care whose toes he steps on.

I’m thinking TRUMP does not need Newt indulging in any negative theater, certainly not as VP, when it’s already coming from plenty of others.

Newt is also part of the free trade godfathers. He and Clinton teamed up to push NAFTA. Now he is against free trade. Not only that, but Newt has various business dealings with the PRC. That would be another odd pick for Trump. Newt would be a interesting pick for a chief of staff and such, but I don't know how much fire in the belly Newt has.

Anyone Trump picks will have various issues, it will be a interesting who he puts forth.

Ernst, Cotton, Pence, Gingrich

I would have them in this order:

1. Cotton

2. Ernst

3. Gingrich

4. Pence

My keynote speaker at the convention would be Guiliani and then Gingrich. Guiliani is an outstanding inspirational speaker and Gingrich is an outstanding goal setter and a very fine speaker

Not if it’s a full-term Governor.

Just commenting on what the top names are that I’ve heard.

Speakers at convention, however, are a different issue.

Before all else, they should be GOOD speakers. Guiliani and Gingrich BOTH fill that bill. I’ve heard Santorum in a small assembly setting and that particular night he was outstanding, but he was given about 45 minutes. I doubt he’d get that amount of time at a convention.

Giuliani, on the other hand, is a huge missed opportunity. If only he’d been a serious conservative. He is a motivating, solid speaker. Probably the best the Republicans have.

Not only Sea Island, Georgia, Judy....Sen. Cotton was also present at Mitt Romney’s “boo hoo Trump is going to be the nominee” shindig in Park City, Utah several weeks ago.

He might pick Florida gov. Rick Scott in order to nail down Florida’s electoral votes. Who knows.
