Austria's highest court has annulled the result of the presidential election narrowly lost by the far-right candidate of the Freedom Party.
The party had challenged the result, saying that postal votes had been improperly handled.
The Freedom Party candidate, Norbert Hofer, lost the election to the former leader of the Greens, Alexander Van der Bellen, by less than a percentage point.
The election will now be re-run.
Announcing the decision, Gerhard Holzinger, head of the Constitutional Court, said: "The challenge brought by Freedom Party leader Heinz-Christian Strache against the 22 May election... has been upheld.

The article said less than one percentage point, so it makes sense to do a recount on that alone.

I do completely agree, as well as that a new election would be best.
I thought the postal vote was a fraud. Even here most election fraud is produced through such absentee ballots.
I think even Stalin would be jealous...

I was disappointed when Hofer lost. I had hoped that his election would make it more acceptable for other right-of-center nationalist leaders, like Gert Wilders and Marine le Pen, to get elected and start a domino effect that would save the European nation state and prevent the continent’s Islamization.
The Austrians better take advantage of this new opportunity and make the right choice. Hofer’s strongly anti-mass immigration, pro-gun, pro-business, and Euro-sceptic (although he also wants to maintain the country’s current welfare safety net, like most Euro politicians). The downside is that the Austrian president isn’t that powerful. However, Hofer has already indicated that he will use his powers to call for early parliamentary elections with the hope that a member of his party, the FPÖ, can become the country’s Chancellor (Kanzler), the real political leader of the country. If that happens the flood of Muslim migrants into beautiful little Austria will stop.
