Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Bangor Maine yesterday. For some odd reason the U.S. national media didnt quite share the scope of the support he found there...

I just hope his personal popularity doesn’t transfer enough to carry the day for her.
I went to visit my sister in her over-55 community. She gave a tea party to introduce me to her friends. The attendees were all senior citizen ladies, sweet, churchgoing types. To a woman, they all said they were voting for Trump.
“Bangor is in the second CD in Maine which has become more & more conservative over time; they just elected a republican to the U.S. House. Whats of interest is that if Trump loses the state of Maine, but wins the Second CD he still gets 2 of Maines 4 EVs.”
I think it’s two ev’s for the state and one each for each congressional district which would give him 1 of Maine’s 4 ev’s should he lose the state but win the 2nd district.
Actually without the super delegates Hilary would still be ahead. With the super delegates she is just more ahead.
That is completely ridiculous. Before the first vote was cast Hillary had a 600 delegate advantage. The game was totally rigged against him.
Mass rallies are very, very effective and will help Trump win in a landslide.
I think we have identified you as one of the 1001 on FR running around telling all who will listen that we have lost. You wouldn’t recognize a Trump victory if it bit you!
Actually without the super delegates Hilary would still be ahead. With the super delegates she is just more ahead.
_____________
I saw a Hannity thing that showed that Bernie was actually ahead because there was something else going on other than the superdelegates. If I can find it, I’ll post it.
In any case they were so tipping the scales against Bernie that most democrats just concluded they netter vote for the leader. It’s real easy when you give one of the candidates 600 delegates before the first vote is cast.
The rallies did mean something. Bernie had intensity going him. It wasn’t enough because of bigger problems... essentially the fact that he is a raving lunatic in the fringe of sanity. But getting as close as he did had a lot to do with his big rallies.
I’m still hoping I can get my husband to register and vote. He hasn’t voted since Kennedy but he has taken a sudden interest this year, listened to everyone, despises Cruz and Hillary, thinks Bernie is crazy and mostly likes Trump.
Ok, thanks. Better 1 than none:)
I thought Romney’s big rallies meant something 4 years ago.
I live in Maine, and you are correct.
The winner of the statewide popular vote receives two electoral votes.
The winner of the popular vote in the First Congressional District in southern Maine receives one electoral vote, and
the winner of the popular vote in the Second Congressional District (80% of the state) also receives one electoral vote.
Maine, with a population of 1.2 million, has four electoral votes.
I didn’t. Romney did not draw big rallies during the primaries. He got moderate rallies during the general because of opposition to Obama...not because he really could generate excitement. We have yet to see the size of rally Trump can get after the convention with the trump train pulling out of the station heading for November.
All the RINOS in Congress ... not a large number but...
I wish I didn’t have to explain this.
You say Romney drew ‘moderate’ rallies during the general, which I was referring to.
I say the ones I attended were large.
That is why most observers were surprised by the result.
Hope this clears up any misconceptions you may have.
I would call "big" the 100,000 Obama reached in the home stretch of 2008. The narrative around Obama the populist that would heal political and racial divides and right all wrongs was complete rubbish...but it got him elected handily with huge enthusiastic rallies.
I would say the swell that Romney got was more about the tea party wanting to end Obama's tenure than it was about excitement for Romney. Sure, there was some bit of enthusiasm for Romney himself as a result, but it was a tad manufactured for the greater good. Nobody really felt Romney was going to make America Great again...it was just hoped that maybe a rhino would be better than more of a socialist....
Big rallies do not automatically mean somebody is going to win. But it is one indicator that is useful if examined in the context of everything going on. The frequency as well as the size and the enthusiasm of the Trump rallies bode well.
Don’t care what other people, pundits, or talking heads say or preach. As far as I am concerned they can go shout it to the trees and birds.
I have voted in every election since 1968, including a military ballot sent to me in the RVN.
I will continue to vote conservative even after I am DEAD; just have to find somebody to cast the ballot.
ANY VOLUNTEERS?
Make sure she is registered to vote and then drive her to her polling place on election day!!!!
Just remind him that “THOSE WHO DON’T VOTE, HAVE NO RIGHT TO BITCH”.
It won’t matter to DemocRATS .. they don’t care how many votes Trump gets .. he still will never be a true winner.
It was bad enough how the left treated GW Bush. But Trump, he’s such an outlier, they will do whatever they think will make it possible for Hillary to be President.
I hope people are prepared ..?? It’s going to be NASTY.
