The Pentagon announced Thursday that transgender people will be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. military, ending one of the last bans on service in the armed forces.
Saying it’s the right thing to do, Defense Secretary Ash Carter laid out a yearlong implementation plan declaring that “Americans who want to serve and can meet our standards should be afforded the opportunity to compete to do so.” ....
Under the new policy, by Oct. 1, transgender troops should be able to receive medical care and begin formally changing their gender identifications in the Pentagon’s personnel system.
And a year from now, he said, the military services will begin allowing transgender individuals to enlist, as long as they meet the required standards and have been stable in their identified gender for 18 months.

I heard him say that. It was mixed in with those whose ‘gender identity’ had been stable for 18 months - then he said the military would pay for ‘transitioning’ for those already signed up.

Every day, EVERY STINKING DAY I am so danged glad that I retired when I did. I would have never been able to finish my career in the Army with this garbage now. I suffered under stinking commie Jimmuh Karter. He was bad enough. At least I had Ronald Reagan for eight wonderful years. Then Daddy Bush was my last suffering. I retired just after commie Klinton was sworn in. I am so glad, GLAD, that I am done, finished, retired, and living quietly out in the country. I don’t even watch the stinking commie new TV stations any more. Not even the sorry Fox news. I come here or other trust worthy conservative sites that I can find to read. Other wise I am dumb to what these slobs are doing.
