Mitt Romney's family is still pleading for him to mount an independent bid for the presidency, the 2012 Republican nominee said Wednesday.
Romney, speaking to CBS News' John Dickerson at the Aspen Ideas Festival, said a son asked him as recently as Tuesday to do so. "My wife and kids wanted me to run again this time, interestingly enough," Romney said. "I got an email from one of my sons yesterday, saying 'You gotta get in, Dad! You gotta get in!' "

I am fairly certain that Romney is on the DNC payroll and was back in 2012.
It’s a little late for that now Willard. Trump won the primary voting. Willard’s family has no honor nor loyalty.
At this point, if Romney did mount an independent run, it would hurt Clinton more than Trump, because all of those establishment anti-Trump Pubbies would have to choose between Romney and Clinton.

The ONLY reason why Mitt would run at this point is to ensure that Hillary wins. And everyone knows it.
Romney's mask is off. We know he didn't give a damn about winning, just wanted to run and be top dog in the Republican Party. Now Trump has taken that position, and logic says Trump will win. (lots of states that Romney lost could be won by Trump). Romney's high opinion of himself just can't handle that Trump has replaced him. Trump, a more successful businessman, with a more successful independent family, and worshipped in some cases by folks Romney wouldn't lower himself to campaigning for their votes. Romney just can't handle it, so he's behaving a bit on the crazy side.
That's my take, anyway.
Who wants to be the would-be Romney heir to say, “No—just give it up already, Dad!”
