Increasing taxes along with the smoking age? The black market for smuggled cigarettes is also going to increase. I guess that Chicago wants its own Eric Garners now.

They probably noticed that a lot of the gangbangers get winded when chased by the evil cops, so to increase the likelihood that they can get away, they’ve decided to increase the smoking age.
Tobacco doesn't alter the brains receptor centers the way Marijuana does....

brilliant!! So the 18 year olds won’t pay 14 a pack anymore (price in Chicago-not making that up) and they will go to the suburbs or Cicero and pay 6 a pack. (In a city that is broke). Just brilliant.

I see the incidence of cigarette theft by 18-to-20-year-olds going up dramatically.
Most people in the city never buy them there anyway. 14 a pack vrs. 6 / pack in the suburbs. If kids were going to steal- they were doing it already due to the price. The ones who could afford 14/pack just make a 15 min drive to the burbs. The stupidity of these leaders in Chicago is breathtaking.
This will automatically create a black market or two.
This will do a lot for community/police relations as cops try to arrest kids for smoking—not.

I hope that the Chicago Democrats pass a new law making it illegal for anyone under 21 to illegally purchase a hand gun. Apparently the current laws aren’t impressing the young scofflaws.
