NY Times: House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton
NY Times ^ | June 28, 2016 | David M. Herszenhorn

Ending one of the longest, costliest and most bitterly partisan congressional investigations in history, the House Select Committee on Benghazi issued its final report on Tuesday, finding no new evidence of culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton in the 2012 attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead.

The 800-page report, however, included some new details about the night of the attacks, and the context in which it occurred, and it delivered a broad rebuke of government agencies like the Defense Department, the Central Intelligence Agency and the State Department - and the officials who led them - for failing to grasp the acute security risks in the Libyan city, and especially for maintaining outposts in Benghazi that they could not protect.

The committee, led by Representative Trey Gowdy, Republican of South Carolina, also harshly criticized an internal State Department investigation that it said had allowed officials like Mrs. Clinton, then the secretary of state, to effectively choose who would investigate their actions. In addition, it reiterated Republicans’ complaints that the Obama administration had sought to thwart the investigation by withholding witnesses and evidence.

The report, however, did not dispute that United States military forces stationed in Europe could not have reached Benghazi in time to rescue the personnel who died - a central finding of previous inquiries.

The NY Slimes continues its century old tradition of lying:

House Benghazi report slams administration response to attacks

A damning report authored by the Republican-led House committee probing the Benghazi terror attacks faulted the Obama administration for a range of missteps before, during and after the fatal 2012 attacks – saying top administration officials huddled to craft their public response while military assets waited hours to deploy to Libya.

The report released Tuesday pointedly blamed a “rusty bureaucratic process” for the slow-moving response the night of the attack. The report said despite orders from President Obama and then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to deploy, the first military force did not do so until more than 13 hours after the attack started.

The report said one anti-terrorism security team known as the FAST unit sat waiting for three hours in Rota, Spain, as Marines changed “in and out of their uniforms four times,” and even debated whether they should carry personal weapons, according to one witness. All together, the report said, “it would take nearly 18 hours” for that team to move.

The report described a web of internal debates and hold-ups, including apparent State Department guidance that “Libya must agree to any deployment,” though Panetta would later say Libya approval was not necessary.

While various officials debated how to proceed, U.S. personnel were under attack at two sites in Benghazi.

In the end, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans — foreign service officer Sean Smith and former Navy Seals Ty Woods and Glen Doherty — were killed in the attacks.

Leaders, or those who want to be leaders, need to do more than avoiding wrong-doing. They need to actually step up and DO the right thing.

Clinton didn’t do that. She failed, miserably, on numerous levels, starting with causing a stable (but nasty) regime to fall, leading to anarchy. The last failure, that of not doing anything to save these fine people at their hour of greatest need, is only the cream on the cake. That she and her toadies then went ahead and lied their ample asses off about what happened, to avoid taking blame, is metaphysical proof that she is not qualified to lead a girl-scout troop, let alone this nation.

Trump should run Hillary’s “3 A.M. phone call” ad from 2008, and juxtaposition it with actual pictures of dead bodies and burned buildings from the Benghazi incident. Show her LYING her fat ass off. Close with, “Is THIS the kind of leadership that you want for our nation?”

If you’re not outraged, you don’t grasp the situation.

Plenty of us are outraged. The problem isn't that. The problem is that we are entirely unwilling to do a damn thing about it. May our chains rest lightly, and may posterity forget we were countrymen. And it will forget, too, because we have lost based on our totaly unwillingness to fight. The left has won, and will write the history books.
