If the government had left the phone company and its regulations the way they were we would all still be tied to a wall by a tether to a black plastic clunker of a phone. Phone booths would be everywhere and now they would take credit cards as nobody could carry enough quarters to make a call.

_____________

I am not sure that it would have been a totally bad thing.

“I am not sure that it would have been a totally bad thing.”

Just the increase in communications has probably accounted for a significant percentage of GDP growth. Not to mention the phone has facilitated other technologies that enable people to spend money easier and visit a wider internet market from anywhere. And, the phone market itself didn’t even exist before. Imagine how many people are employed servicing, building or writing aps for the phones. I believe it has been an exponential mechanism that has served to ameliorate some of the damage done to the economy by eight years under Obama.

You can always turn it off.
