The unveiling is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 27. The statue itself is currently under tarps on the northwest corner of Lincoln Park in Selma. Palomino a muralist, filmmaker, writer and mixed-media artist describes the piece as a tribute to farm workers and agriculture. The statue melds the Aztec Earth goddess of life and death, Coatlicue, on the front with farm workers on the back into the form of a workers truck.

Next: Virgin sacrifice
Putting up the statue of an Aztec Goddess of Death in a public park is a violation of separation of church and state. So why isn’t the ACLU filing suit? Where is People for the American Way? Why doesn’t the Southern Poverty Law Center take action? After all they’ve done against showing The Ten Commandments and crosses, why haven’t they done anything to stop this?
Unconstitutional. Lynch needs to get off her @$$ and take care of this.
Idolatry. Does Il Papa approve?
Next virgin sacrifice?! Oh Gee...the Astecs considered its religion to be at its best when the blood from sacrificed humans was running from the top of the alter to the bottom of the steps on a 24 hour a day basis. The Astecs were horrible. To honor them is to give love to Satan.
Spelling error Aztecs were horrible.
“Putting up the statue of an Aztec Goddess of Death in a public park is a violation of separation of church and state. “
It is by the liberal left’s own standards. But they have double standards.
Really, Our Lady of Guadalupe would be more appropriate and relevant to the actual workers they are claiming to celebrate.
This is a bogus a history as has ever been perpetrated. The Aztecs never made any real attempt to come north and cross the Rio grande into North America. The few times that they did they were vigorously repulsed by the native peoples already here.
No doubt this is stupid and wrong (and weird) but I’m not sure we have a legitimate chruch/state argument. Does anyone believe in this goddess anymore? Does she have a church? I doubt it. So it’s the same thing as putting up a statue of Zeus or something.
Yes, there are still many believers in the old Aztec and Maya religions.
