ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Sunday that Christians and the Roman Catholic Church should seek forgiveness from homosexuals for the way they had treated them.
Speaking to reporters aboard the plane taking him back to Rome from Armenia, he also said the Church should ask forgiveness for the way it has treated women, for turning a blind eye to child labor and for "blessing so many weapons" in the past.
In the hour-long freewheeling conversation that has become a trademark of his international travels, Francis was asked if he agreed with recent comments by a German Roman Catholic cardinal that the Church should apologize to gays.
Francis looked sad when the reporter asked if an apology was made more urgent by the killing of 49 people at a gay club in Orlando, Florida this month.
He recalled Church teachings that homosexuals "should not be discriminated against. They should be respected, accompanied pastorally."
He added: "I think that the Church not only should apologize ... to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologize to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been exploited by (being forced to) work. It must apologize for having blessed so many weapons."

Does he ask for Muslims to apologize to homosexuals for mistreatment which is happening today, not in the distant past????

I have always loved the Catholic Church despite its errors, but this Pope is weired.

With my respect for my Catholic brothers and sisters— we all believe in Jesus as the Son of God which is all it takes ( JN 3:16) I must say this guy is bass akwards. Homosexuals need forgiveness and this guy need to read the WORD of GOD in Leviticus regarding the abomination of homosexuals and HIS commands. This guy need the HOOK stage left.

The rock star pope strikes again. We don’t have a pope, we have a fool posing as a pope. How were all those other guys at the college of cardinals fooled? What the hell has this guy been reading all his life? Surely not the Bible.
The most hard to absorb statement he has made is that if you believe you have led a just life..or something to that effect..you can get into Heaven.

How about offering them life eternal. I thought that was the business he was in. Life eternal. All they have to do is accept Christ as lord of their lives, including lord of every part of their lives. Same as anyone else.
If he wants to apologize, he could apologize for failing to mention that, if they lay it all on the altar they can have a life that actually has meaning here on earth and then transcends the grave as the icing on the cake.
You know, for future reference, next time around they should maybe make sure the guy they promote to the Vatican is actually a Christian.
What about the Jews?.......
