WASHINGTON Conservative columnist George Will told PJM he has officially left the Republican Party and urged conservatives not to support presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump even if it leads to a Democratic victory in the 2016 presidential election.
I agree with almost everything in your post. However, as a college professor and former banker, I think that “young intellectual” might be an oxymoron. Most young people don’t have fully developed intellects or worldviews. George found being an elite pundit more satisfying than intellectual integrity. As an intellectual, he has always been deficient.

Ta Ta Georgie old boy. Best not forget your tent pole as you will need it to keep your very large tent from falling on your very small head. Unaffiliated idea sounds superb. Democrats wouldn’t include you, eh?
Another Judas goat.
George IS the establishment we’re overthrowing.
Good riddance.
Don’t let the exit door hit ya’ where the Good Lord split ya’.
I have not left the GOP, I work as much as ever for state and local candidates. I will not declare for Trump. How this self-aggrandizing buffoon beat out 17 candidates is a mystery to me.
I will never vote Hillary, so I guess it’s Gary Johnson (unless a more amusing candidate comes along). This is the sorriest choice put to the voters in my adult life. Thanks RNC.
Trump is The Man in the Arena. Will is the critic who accoplishes nothing.
Quite some time ago, George Will dissed Trump so Trump unloaded on George Will.
It all pride. George Will exalts himself above the country. He would prefer the country to have Hillary Clinton president and slide into oblivion than have Trump president and have the last word.
Will said this morning in answer to Trump’s tweet that Trump can say all he knows about a subject in 140 characters and that he (Will) cannot.
That is why, I suppose, George Will has built a larger than ten billion dollar empire and flies around in his own 757.
With Shrillary as president RINOs like George Will and Paul Ryan get to play at being the “elder statesmen” of the opposition party, invited to all the right cocktail parties.
With Trump as POTUS, the whole game changes and George Will is relegated to his little corner. His lack of influence and significance would be obvious to all.
Oh no the horror, another faux conservative doesn’t get his way so he’s going back to the democrats.
Goodbye. ..
Trump responds to little Georgie Will:
Will is still alive?
You just described most of the Republican Party. To hell with all of ‘em. If that crazy bytch gets in the White House it will be because of the more than a few pompous jackasses in the Republican Party, imho. Trump is running against the media, the Demonrats and his own party!
Your comments evoke the distinction between intellect and wisdom. I view intellect as mental horsepower -- memorization and solving equations -- usually invested more in younger minds. Mathematicians and physicists typically do their best work at a very young age. Wisdom is something found in more mature persons: making right choices in life, decision making. Great artists do their best work in their advanced years.
It should be obvious to all of us that we need a wise man to lead us, not necessarily one with a super-charged intellect. We are fortunate that in Trump I think we have the best of both attributes.
He is self-centered and blind to what the majority of what true Americans are feeling.
Old George left the party a long time ago.
