Trump does seem to be loathe to get engaged in foreign wars, something Obama, Hitlery and Bush tended to do....

We know that the VP pick is down to 4 names. Four people who are 100% behind a Trump presidency.

I would like to say Rand Paul is in the running... but I doubt it.

Condi Rice was one of my choices, but I just don’t think she is convincingly for Trump.

I like Rick Perry... I like Newt and Chris Christie. Rudy? Interesting pick. Don’t know. Sessions? I don’t think he wants it, and is better in the Senate...

Fitzgerald out of Illinois...Possibly.

Newt? Just don’t see the value of him as VP. What does the VP do? He runs with you, and debates well. Newt, Christie, Condi Rice and Rudy... all great debaters.

. . . and is otherwise the political heir of the president. A vp is like a prince, except that the office he would inherit is expected to expire before the president is expected to. Hence, the notorious uselessness of the office.

It is easy to overestimate the value of VP as an electoral political credential; a president who sees his sitting vp elected to succeed him is a big deal. Washington/Adams, Jackson/van Buren, Reagan/Bush41 . . . pretty exclusive company.

He also catered to #BLM crap with “too many black men in prison” etc.

My guess is he was catering to the marijuana de-criminalization/legalization crowd. I agree with that actually. Nobody should go to jail for simple MJ possession.

I don’t think in any state anyone goes to prison for simple possession. Not for years.

Have all Republican Realists come out in support of Hillary? Is there anything Trump can do to win them back, like a Realist VP choice?

Bob Corker is a realist and could be SoS.

Two prominent NeoCons Have endorsed Trump: Cheney and Rumsfeld. Either of them could serve as SoD.

General Flynn is a democrat Realist but could serve as Natl Security Advisor.

Its one thing to say that a Realist individual has spoken out against Trump. Its another when they said something vague about him but definitely didn't endorse him, like Kissinger, James Baker, or Bob Gates. Or when they have not said anything, like Colin Powell or Condi Rice.

Usually, a candidate will come out early with experienced foreign policy advisors. Obama hired Colin Powell and Dan Shapiro(both Realists) in 2007. Romney appointed 20 plus foreign policy advisors in Sept 2011 and gave a significant foreign policy speech at the Citadel. Jeb Bush had very public meetings in the spring of 2015 with NeoCon Paul Wolfowitz and Realist James Baker.

As for Veep, Obama had one with a lot of foreign policy experience. But if the candidate picks an individual for veep without foreign policy experience, he will assign one of his advisors. So McCain assigned one of his top foreign policy advisor, Randy Schunemann, to Palin. Romney assigned Dan Senor to Paul Ryan, plus hired Condi Rice to make campaign appearances with Ryan.

Trump has named foreign policy advisors, but they are all oddballs, and Sessions is an oddball forteign policy advisor.

If Trump picks Pence(no foreign policy experience) as VP, who would he assign to Pence?
