Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump appeared to soften his tone on immigration Saturday, saying he wouldn't issue mass deportations if president.
"President Obama has mass deported vast numbers of people — the most ever, and it's never reported. I think people are going to find that I have not only the best policies, but I will have the biggest heart of anybody," Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg Politics Saturday.
Pressed on whether he would issue mass deportations as he has called for in the past, Trump said: "No, I would not call it mass deportations."
"We are going to get rid of a lot of bad dudes who are here. That I can tell you," Trump said.
Throughout his campaign, Trump has promised to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexican border and deport all 11 million people living in the country illegally.
In November, shortly after he launched his presidential campaign, Trump said he would build a "deportation force" to ship those in the country illegally back to their home countries.
"We're going to do it in a very humane fashion. Believe me. I have a bigger heart than you do. We're going to do it in a very human fashion," he said.

The Judge Curiel thing frustrated me because, if he was going to bring it up (which he did), he could have articulated it so it didn’t come off the way it did. I do believe that was a contributor to his drop in the polls, but if he explained the judge’s affiliation with this La Raza and reasons why he thought the case was being decided unfairly, I don’t think it would have caused the problems that it did.
Self deportation is a lot cheaper and no lawyers or incarceration, buses, etc. They just make like a tree and leave.

Trump is very frugal, to save money, I really do think this is his first plan of action.
Mexican president said he’d call all his people home if Trump elected. There, problem solved.

Cut off the illegal aliens oxygen and they will self deport...not all of them but at least half. Just cut off their money. Make sure they cannot work, penalize employers who hire them, make sure illegals and their families cannot get any welfare, medical, housing or food stamps. Make sure they cannot pull the earned income tax credit scam

I’d be happy with strict immigration law enforcement and NO amnesties. That would cause illegals to gradually go home and discourage many others from coming in illegally. And deport any who come to the attention of law enforcement authorities.
There is one other action that needs to be taken, and that is to stop the human trafficking, aka slavery. The illegals who are working under the table for employers who get hit with huge fines will go back once they no longer can work. But victims of human trafficking are captives; I don’t see how fines are going to help them.
