Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said Tuesday he agrees that delegates to the Republican national convention should be free to vote their conscience, even if that means not supporting presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

Walker is a former presidential candidate and a delegate to the convention next month. He told reporters following a groundbreaking at a sausage factory that he will follow Wisconsin Republican Party rules and cast his ballot for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the first round because Cruz won the state primary.

Why is Paul Ryan putting out tax plans and other stuff? Does he plan on running against Trump at the Convention?

I heard some gossip, that Trump is only going to allow Reince to speak at the Convention, because he is the head of the RNC...no other political speakers ... all entertainment for the people...

He told reporters following a groundbreaking at a sausage factory

Ironic. People are tired of the sausage making that goes on behind the scenes in selecting our candidates. They simply want THE PEOPLE to decide. I get that Wisconsin voted for Cruz in the primaries. I voted for Cruz in my primary. But the people want Trump, and I am proudly supporting Trump now that he is the presumptive nominee and has garnered pledged delegates well in excess of the number required. Is this whole damn party going crazy?!!!

Is a sitting governor advising delegates to break the laws of their states?

I'm pretty sure most states have enacted law that requires delegates to vote in accordance with the will of the voters.

Translation: ruled should be followed if they benefit Cruz. Rules should be broken if they benefit Trump.

Scott Walker's lack of education and/or his dedication to his masters (guess what the family connection "Walker" is) is loud and clear here. Governor Walker needs to look up what the word "delegate" means. Hint....it means that anyone who can't do what they were DELEGATED to do should stay home.

The delegates should be held to their duty and vote as they are obligated. After they meet that obligation (generally after the first nominating round), then the delegates should be free to vote their conscience.

It shouldn't make a difference. Trump seems to have plenty of solid delegates to secure a first-ballot victory. I think that is true even if the delegates were somehow released from their obligation in the first ballot.

I'm not happy about Trump being the nominee but he won fair and square.
