Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, said:

"I believe that Britain is better off within the European Union, but the British people have clearly spoken today, and their democratic will must now be fulfilled.

"I would like to praise David Cameron for the dignified way he has reacted to the message sent by the British people in his words at Downing Street today. I agree with the Prime Minister that Britain can survive and prosper outside the European Union.

"I want to send a clear message to the British people and to businesses and investors around the world this morning - there is no need to panic.

I saw where he was banning an ad with a bikini clad woman. Claimed it was for avoiding body shaming young girls, but we’ll see if this becomes a trend in the future and if it’s associated with the religion.

You mean sort of like mayors of NYC and Chicago?

” Our city and our country will continue to be the best place in the world to do business.”

The world stock markets show the same belief.
Although FTSE fell 3% so did the Dow, and markets in the EU dropped twice as mush or more! That markets action shows a belief that Britain got less from being in the EU than EU did.
(The Pound is taking a beating though.)

Britain could get it’s first nonwhite Prime Minister in Priti Patel. She is a Thatcherite. You never know what can happen.

Yep, he’s the British Obama. He’ll become prime minister in no time. That will be the final nail in the coffin.

I find it amazing that the prime minister has resigned and nobody has taken over. Meanwhile, Sadiq is issuing messages to the world and implementing his own foreign policy.

From all that I’ve read-historically a lot of London mayors have been full of self importance all the way back to the early Middle Ages-in many cases, aided in that by some kings, no less...

If I were a London resident, I’d want this one needs to be removed just on GP...

Cameron has deferred his resignation until October, when the next Conservative Party conference is scheduled.

It is not unusual, and he is effectively a caretaker until the Party recommends the next PM to the Queen. The gap allows potential replacements to compete for the job. It is a different system from ours, but it works for them.

Sadiq, who is the brand new Mayor of the most significant city in Europe, simply wants to get his name out there and position himself for Parliament and a Cabinet position for the next Labour government. Its just posturing.

I think Muslims would be much more at home on the continent. They should all move to Turkey.
