You’re right (the margin wasn’t very large), but I suspect those 52% realized they had to act now before the 48% quickly grew. I suspect many of those supporting remain weren’t “Anglo” in any sense of the word, and their numbers were growing with each passing day.
Look no further than the invasion from Calais (where dark immigrants were constantly battling to get from France into England) to understand what English people have been dealing with.
Here in the US we have the same dynamic at work (mass immigration from Latin America & Asia instead), and Trump singlehandedly returned it to front & center after our overlords had decided it was a done deal.
