Donald Trump has forgiven $50 million in loans he made to his campaign, and fundraising efforts have kicked into high gear, his national finance chairman told CNBC on Thursday.
"[Trump] loaned $50 million to the campaign. He's now forgiven that loan. So that is a contribution," said Steve Mnuchin. "[Trump] has also said he will contribute significantly more money."
"We just forgave the loan this week," Mnuchin added in a "Squawk Box" interview.
The New York tycoon and the Republican National Committee brought in about $18.6 million in May, including another loan from Trump. Clinton and the Democratic National Committee raised more than double that amount.

I wish Jim would add a “like” button for comments such as this. Outstanding!
I want all of those here at afar that claimed Trump ‘loaned’ money but would ask for it back to apologize NOW
Crickets!
Have they all been removed?
What I really want is an edit button active for a few minutes to correct typo’s in posting.
Let’s get serious. Win or lose he will make significantly more money than this once the campaign is over. This is PR, pure and simple.
If Trump was really a looser and the Democrats wanted him to run against Hillary like they claimed, Hillary would have contributed millions to his campaign.
The Democrats will say “see, Trump doesn’t pay his bills....even to himself”!
I donated to Trump’s campaign this week, but I’m having second thoughts now. Does anyone know if the money he’s raised this week is going directly to his campaign or is it going to the RNC? I ask because I read that it’s going to the RNC. I’m willing to come out of my pocket to elect Trump but not one red cent to the corrupt GOP.
But . . . but . . . Trump was all in it for himself. This was all a scam for him to make money.
Ah, I see. PR. So if it’s so good, you try loaning yourself money, then forgiving the debt. Waiting . . .
Let me see if I have this correct: Trump gave himself a small portion of his own wealth in order to become the most powerful man on the planet for the next four years (at least). Then, he told himself that he didn’t have to pay himself back. Then he announced it to the world. Meanwhile, in the past few days, the American people have donated millions in light of the news that Hillary has significantly more cash on hand. Just so we are clear.
Limbaugh had a Millenial caller yesterday who said something along the lines of “like, man, if Trump want to win he needs to say he’s gonna forgive everyone’s student loan.”
Clearly that is far and away the #1 issue on their minds when they go to the polls. It’s HORRIBLE economics, but I’m increasingly convinced it’s going to happen. The politics just seem to be inevitable. Hillary will reverse herself on this, if Trump does not beat her to the punch (and who knows? he just may)
The MSM line of the last few days that Trump is an ineffectual fund-raiser and his campaign is greatly overmatched by Hillary is crumbling.
Example of Bought and paid politicianSpeaking of bought and paid. Mercer (Cruz donor from your link) handed over the administration of his sCruz superpac to Glenn Beck, which might clear up a lot of confusion why Cruz was so beholden to Beck.
