I have Fox News on in the background and you nailed it - Obummer is coming up to discuss the SCOTUS decision in 2 minutes. Will probably discuss other mechanisms that can be in play to stop deportations. I suspect Trump will be listening en route to Scotland.
I tend to be more cynical. They couldn’t pass this. If they did, it would drive voters by droves into Trumps camp.

The state most certainly are empowered to deport illegal immigrants if the feds have failed in their constitutional duty per Art IV, Sec 4 of the Constitution to prevent invasion.
As confirmed by the Ninth and Tenth amendments, the states are constitutionally sovereign and it is their right AND duty to counter unconstitutional federal acts which by definition are acts of tyranny. That includes removing those illegally in their state.
And he immediately takes to the airwaves to pound Republicans. Laz, how many more days???

He keeps saying the law couldn’t be pushed through because the court couldn’t come to a decision. However he never mentions that the law is now set by the lower courts decision which went against him.
He’s blaming Congress. He also says none of the people granted amnesty in the past are affected, and his immigration enforcement policies will not change (i.e., he is not going to enforce the law, but he isn’t going to grant “letters of amnesty” - my term - to those who petition for them).
Sooner or later but not during his 8 years in office, even thought Obama promised them the moon and the stars.
Arizona asserted that, and lost. SCOTUS says immigration is solely the responsibility of the federal government.
