“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” ‭‭John‬ ‭13:34-35‬

THE REST OF THE STORY. One of the disciples then turned Jesus in to the Roman authorities for some quick cash, many of the other disciples either denied knowing Jesus or ran away and hid. Not a whole lotta love going on there.

This is why I denounce what I call Churchianity for its emphasis on protecting a person’s reputation (under the pretext of preserving his “witness”) by keeping transgressions secret.

If the Apostles had lived by that code, then we would not know that Peter denied Christ, and that Paul consented to murder.

Last I heard, we were all sinners who had failed in one way or another; I think that was the point of needing a redemptive sacrifice by the Son of God.
