As an aside, my brother once had a cyst on the inside of his wrist. My grandmother (now gone these 35 years) prescribed whacking the cyst with a Bible. It worked. Does anyone else have a similar story?

Nope, i grew up Catholic. If we had a skin problem, we went to a dermatologist. He was jewish, so he hit the affected area with the old testament.

I read once that those were called Bible Warts because whacking them with the Bible would get rid of them. They occur on the bottoms of the feet as well.
I suspect any heavy flat object will do the job.
Actually yes! I had a cyst on my wrist as well, right on the inner side of my hand. I went to the doctor and he told me to hit it with a bible, since it’s a heavy book. It hurt, but really did work.
I have heard of that working. I believe they are called ganglion cysts or something like that.
My surgeon recommended against that. LOL.
