I think that Hillary has the problem that if she goes after him now the news media will have to cover it during the election cycle if she just tries to keep coverage to a minimum it does not do as much damage. after the election if she wins this agent has problems and the weight of the government will go after him at Hillary’s urging.

Professional courtesy has always been extended by the FBI agents, while on the job, but this guy is 30 years into service, likely retired by now, or certainly shall be (after this), and made quite free to speak as an American citizen.

I say this only because another FBI agent went through this question, on FOXMegyn News Corp, regarding Byrne’s expose on the Clintons.

This other agent made it clear that it was not a formal agreement, actually, to hear, to see, or to speak no evil against your charge, but apparently it was more a tribute to decorum by FBI agents, most all in the past, to never repeat personal details of their experience.

Times have changed, obviously, and that is sad in many ways, but this Byrne guy believes he must speak, given the times and the dangers.

If an agent sees something he or she thinks is a threat to national security, I don't think they can be silenced legitimately. It would be a very difficult legal argument to make, and if they tried to silence Byrne, it would likely come back and bite them. He can always make the argument that what he witnessed has lead him to believe that electing her would put the nation at risk, and that he is doing what his conscience dictates.
