...Police found the unidentified teenager unresponsive with several gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on shell casings found at the scene, Guglielmi said investigators believe the teen was shot with a "high-capacity assault rifle."
"It's certainly unusual," Guglielmi told the Chicago Tribune. "This is not the typical weapon used in a lot of shootings...'

That makes my hand hurt just to look at it
Look at the ports on that thing - think they might be trying to compensate for something?
Sounds like the investigators are being told what to say.
High capacity? Dog whistle.
So, how do we know that the rifle was black - pistol grip - expandable stock? That’s essentially the legal definition of assault rifle in most areas. Doesn’t matter if the shooter had 6 10 rd mags or 3 30. The gun was illegal, ha ha.
This is so much worse that the other 1800 shot with handguns in Chicago this year. Last I checked, when a homey shoots ya dead, yer dead.

Shot & Killed: 280
Shot & Wounded: 1521
Total Shot: 1801
Total Homicides: 311
Since most of these shooting are gang related, here’s my question for the gun banners. If we could actually remove all firearms, who is going to build all the churches that these gang bangers will be attending. Because without guns they will all get religion and change their evil ways.
They do. Micro-stamped on the head of the firing pin on an assault rifle is the phrase, “High capacity, scary assault weapon”, although some manufacturers do not put the comma in the phrase. It is this imprint on the shell casing that allows the police to make that determination.
The key phrase is that for 99% of the gang shootings an “assault rifle” is not the “typical weapon”.
“Assault” rifles are more typically used by law abiding citizens in defense of their homes and families.

Any weapon that fires bullets is an assault weapon. /s
That’s gonna be reeeeal loud. d;^)
Ah, yes, the infamous 5 million round magazines!
I’m glad I got some before they were banned in CO.
Imagine having to use that thing in an elevator or bathroom.
Very true. And if someone is killed, it's a high-power assault weapon. I just don't know how reporters can keep track of these things. </s
Because you could just have the headline read “Boy killed near Church”. People don’t care about that.... but they do care about “assAult guns”.
Sick.
That ammo looks like it packs a wallop. Is that what it looks like, a single shot, break to reload pistol?
“Photo of the crime scene.”
That looks like the work area around my reloading bench.
Yep - and casing numbers and holes in victim tell how many shot may have been fired - They probably decided the perp had a 100 round drum to make it sound really scary..
If I were to write a novel about a ‘hit man’, I’d have him swing by the range and grab a bucket of assorted brass to leave at the crime scene.
Then he would dig through the bullet trap/sand bank and get a cup full of slugs, preferably in larger calibers. Then he whacks his victims with a captive bolt gun and pushes one of these slugs into the wound.
Drive the forensic scientists crazy! (sorry, Abby!)
