Aside from the airframe, the Israeli F35 will be a completely different animal from every other F35. If the Israelis didn’t think it could do the job they intend, they would never have purchased it.

The Israelis will be able to add mission specific avionics onto their F-35s, but by no means will it be completely different from the rest of the F-35 fleet.

The Israelis "purchased" the F-35 using U.S. military aid, that is more like a store credit in that the aid can only be spend on U.S. sourced weapons.
