TEL AVIV – In the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando, the United States should consider adopting the Israeli model of profiling as a security precaution, Donald Trump posited on Sunday. “Well I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country,” Trump said in a phone interview with CBS’ Face the Nation. “Other countries do it, you look at Israel and you look at others, they do it and they do it successfully. And I hate the concept of profiling but we have to start using common sense and we have to use our heads.”

It would be much more effective to profile by age, sex , and class than race, ethnicity, or religion.
Mass shooting is like all crime, it's mostly done by young males. The Orlando shooter was 30 yoa.
Age is the largest indicator of crime.
The second indicator is sex. males do more crime than females.
The third indicator is class. The lower class or underclass do more crime than middle class or upper class.
The exception is white collar crime which is done mainly by older whites.

The article talks about how Israel profiles at the airport. If that is all that Trump is talking about then how would that have prevented Orlando, San Bernardino, or Fort Hood? If he is talking about other forms of profiling then what form would that take and how would that work?
No reason to reinvent everything. Find what works best, copy it / improve on it / modify as needed for your specific situations. In this case, Israel has the best system going. Copying / improving / modifying as needed is the prudent move.
Just learn from what Israel has done and make the adjustments that is all.

To an extent, though there are different types of Israelis. Plus there are different types of Muslims as well, not just Arab Muslims.
You’re making a rather large assumption here. That is, the US would use - and not abuse - the Israeli model.
The US government has shown time and time again that it’s NOT Israel. The DHS, with its incompetence and its abuses, is but a single example. So, depending on who was doing the assessments, we could ALL wind up on these lists.
It’s a dangerous precedent, and I stick with my former post.

Why would we not profile? To be PC? I profile all the time. Law enforcement should profile.
