Once the USSR fell and the Warsaw Pact was dissolved NATO lost its primary reason to exist.
Instead of adapting to the reduced state of tension NATO embarked on a senseless expansion that fed Russian paranoia and heightened tensions.
Since then, NATO has been creating more problems than they resolve.
In fact, beginning with Bill Clinton's Bosnia disaster, NATO bears a lot of the responsibility for the muslim invasion of Europe.
