A man who appeared in court charged with the murder of British Labour MP Jo Cox gave his name as Death to traitors, freedom for Britain.
Mrs. Cox (41) died after being shot and stabbed in the street outside her constituency surgery in Birstall, near Leeds, on Thursday.
Thomas Mair (52) from Birstall, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in London charged with murder, grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offense and possession of an offensive weapon.
Mair refused to give his correct name to the court and remained silent when asked his address and date of birth.

Quite.
We have two possibilities here: either this man is the end product of an elaborately-conceived false flag conspiracy, or he is as he appears to be. Until any evidence emerges for the former (at the moment there's not a shred), the latter explanation is at least as probable. Yet I get the impression from posts over the last two days that some here actually want it to have been the former, which I find rather strange.

The Nazis pinned the Reichstag fire on a demented fool, then consolidated their despotic rule. It works.

The implications for them are too troubling to actually process, so they retreat into denial by way of conspiracy theory. It’s a form of self-protection so they don’t ever have to consider the implications and influence of their own opinions on others in the world.

That "Pop-Psychology for Dummies" book you got for Christmas really comes in handy, eh?

So what is your explanation for the paranoid conspiracy theory that so many people here instantaneously embraced despite it’s obvious falsity?
To: babble-on
I think it is a result of the complete lack of trust people now have in government. When you believe that your government is full of corrupt, evil people who have, at best, an adversarial relationship with the governed, then it is easy to believe that they are acting maliciously rather than through stupidity or just random chance.
Another current example is the Orlando shooting. It is clearly the work of an islamic terrorist, but it is being spun as everything BUT an islamic attack. Within hours of the attack, the NRA and guns have been blamed, Christians have been blamed, conservatives have been blamed, and "islamophobia" has been blamed. When your government resorts to such obviously false narratives so predictably, then it becomes easier to believe that, if they would callously use such tragedies for political gain, then why wouldn't they orchestrate such tragedies for political gain. And it is not as if we are lacking in a number of historical precedents for this kind of thing.
And this is all idle speculation on a web forum anyway. Most of the people who chuck out the idea of a UK or EU government-orchestrated assassination of a British MP to affect the outcome of Brexit would easily say that on the web, but not seriously in person because they know how incredibly speculative it is.

“I understand the guy was bipolar, heavily medicated, or some such. A perfect man for a set-up.”
I had not seen a legitimate source for those facts concerning the alleged assassin.
Thanks for breaking that news.

He is mentally ill and was on medication.
IMHO it would be child’s play to influence him to use this phrase instead of his name. Eyewitnesses have said he did not say or shout “Britain first” on the scene.
