I used to work at a radio station in Houston located in the old Rice Hotel. Nixon was doing a speech there once and my boss didn’t know about it.
He picked that day to buy a new Winchester 94, and he was going to park as usual in the basement parking and carry it upstairs to his office rather than leave it in his car.
Of course, the Secret Service in the parking garage were
not amused. However, after some quick, fast convincing talking, he was let go and sent directly home with the new rifle.

They had a picture of him being questioned by police on TV but only showed his hind side. Shoulder length very black hair - maybe Hispanic? Couldn’t see his hands and his arms were covered. Not Amish hair style.
