More than 50 State Dept. officials want strikes on Assad

Fifty-one State Department officials have signed an internal memo calling for the U.S. to take military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in a bid to force regime change in the country.

Signed by officials working on U.S. Syria policy, the "dissent channel cable" makes repeated references to "targeted military strikes" against the Damascus government, according to multiple reports published on Thursday.

“Failure to stem Assad’s flagrant abuses will only bolster the ideological appeal of groups such as ISIL, even as they endure tactical setbacks on the battlefield,” the cable reads, the New York Times said.

“The moral rationale for taking steps to end the deaths and suffering in Syria, after five years of brutal war, is evident and unquestionable,” it said. “The status quo in Syria will continue to present increasingly dire, if not disastrous, humanitarian, diplomatic and extremism-related challenges.”

President Barack Obama has refrained from taking military action due to concerns that it could ignite a conflict with Russia and lead to greater instability in the war-ravaged nation.

Hell yes. When half our foreign policy is dictated by NeoCon idiots and the other half by treasonous fruitloops, this is a horrible idea. Not to mention our recent attempts at regieme change failed miserably!

ISIS is a creation of the Obama regime.

Why?

Because our meddling, our Arab Spring, and our other clumsy nation building has been so successful?

Assad may not be a nice guy but the terrorists he is fighting are the same terrorists Obama is pretending to fight but secretly arming.

Neocon warmongers. Overthrow Assad and create a new vacuum into which radical jihadi’s will flow. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Or perhaps the results we have gotten are exactly the results these people want.

Thinking that's the case, as well. If you look at the so-called Arab spring encouraged and aided by the Obama regime with Her Heinous running State, it's been a disaster for the world and a boon to the radical jihadis. That's not bad luck, that's deliberate.

...because “regime change” and nation building worked so well for them in Libya!

The only good in the Syrian hubbub over the last 5 years is that every day a couple hundred beheaders die.

‘“Failure to stem Assad’s flagrant abuses will only bolster the ideological appeal of groups such as ISIL, even as they endure tactical setbacks on the battlefield,” the cable reads’

Neocon Logic:
Soooo, Assad’s abuses cause ISIS to need to ramp up. Soooo, destroy Assad, so ISIS can feel like they can shut down. Yeah.

My gut reaction while reading the article, “the neocons want a war with Putin before Trump becomes President ” ...gotta feed the military - industrial complex and build that pipeline from Qatar to Europe”.
