If he wanted to keep the boat at Newport for whatever reason, he’s entitled to do so. It certainly was a hypocritical “taxes for thee but not for me” thing to do for a prominent, tax-advocating Democrat, though. Taking a $3 million dollar hit on it does make me wonder if it wasn’t somehow claimed as a business expense.

With the current IRS director I don't doubt that Democrats
have been permitted to get away with anything they wish.
The IRS has shown that it is willing to trash the rights
of conservative groups and conservatives. I'm sure they
don't mind favoring their Democrat Party masters.
